SS2, Petaling Jaya – The New Bubble Tea Street

The bubble tea and bubble milk tea craze in Malaysia has led to the mushrooming of boba shops all over the country. This Taiwan-originated beverage is quickly invading the streets of Selangor, with SS15 being the prime location. Famously known as “the bubble tea street” of Klang Valley, SS15  houses over 10 famous bubble tea brands (and maybe more have popped up as you are reading this).

But hold your tea, friends, as there’s another bubble tea street in the making! It’s located in Petaling Jaya’s very own durian hub, SS2.

This up and coming bubble tea street is already full of renowned brands, including Xing Fu Tang and The Alley while not forgetting Tealive who has been around for the longest there! We are loving the selection that the district offers as it ranges from creamy, milk-based drinks to lower-calorie options of fruit tea.

Not sure where to start? We have curated an ultimate guide to the boba brands that took the nation by storm.

Xing Fu Tang needs no introduction. Malaysians were not hesitant to queue under the scorching sun during its first few months of being around. Our top pick is their Signature Brown Sugar Boba Milk: fresh milk with hand-stirred brown sugar tapioca pearls topped with a layer of crème brulee. In the mood for a dessert? Try their insta-worthy Mango Smoothie Rabbit Panna Cotta, a refreshing mango drink with a cute rabbit-shaped pudding on top.

  • Chatto

While many believe that tasty bubble milk tea can only be found in Taiwanese franchise, Chatto has proven otherwise! Chatto is a tea bar originated from Johor Bahru, Malaysia (yes, a local brand!). We love their Hojicha and Green Tea Latte series and we think you would, too.

This new kids on the block deserves your attention! Brown Sugar Black Whale Avocado Milk is priced at RM18.90. Albeit being on the pricier side, the rich avocado taste and the chewy hand-made brown sugar pearls is worth every cent.
